October 9th was declared the Remembrance Day for “The Holocaust Memorial”, this very same day, 65 years ago, started the deportation of the Jews from Romania.
To remember the pain and suffering endured by the martyrs of those times, many institutions made supplementary efforts by organizing several events on this day.
The day started with laying the foundation stone of the long expected monument “The Holocaust Memorial”.
Mr. President Traian Basescu held a speech in honor of this achievement for the Jewish community..
At the Coral Temple in Bucharest followed a solemn ceremony, where Their Royal Highnesses and other present officials showed their respect by laying wreaths.
Mr. Serge Clarsfield honored the invitation of holding a conference within the Holocaust Institution “Elie Wiesel”. Together with him are Prince Paul and the president of institute, General Mihai Ionescu.
