Since 1822 The Royal Academy of Music London has been graced with many fine young musicians. Today over 55 countries are represented in the 700 strong student body. HRH Prince Paul of Romania inaugurated a protocol of scholarships with The Royal Academy in respect to the memory of his great grandmother, HM Queen Marie of Romania who was the grand daughter of HM Queen Victoria.
Queen Marie was born as a British Princess and was an avid patroness of the Arts, particularly music. In honor on this Royal tradition, Prince Paul gave the first scholarship to a gifted Romanian violinist, Emanuela Buta. It was a pleasant surprise for his wife, Princess Lia that her mother was born and educated in the same city as Emanuela.
